Summit Environmental Contractors offers full-scale, hands-on
Plans, Reports, & Training
Understanding specifications and assembling the required preconstruction plans is a critical starting point for most if not all jobs. Because of Summit’s long-term history of working on public works infrastructure projects and all the government regulatory agency requirements we are experts in completing the following plans and reports.
• Site Investigation Workplans
• Health and Safety Plans
• Lead Compliance Plans
• Sampling and Analysis Plans
• Soil Excavation and Management Plans
• Excavation and Transportation Plans
• Soil and Water Staging Plans
• Risk-Based Health Assessments
• Summary Reports
• Lead Awareness Training
• OSHA 40 Hour HazMat Training
Sampling & Waste Profiling
Using the approved plans to execute an intelligent and effective sampling and waste profiling program can lead to significant project financial success. Summit staff are experts in infrastructure, data evaluation, statistical analysis, and modeling. Specific items involved with this work include
• Pre-Bid assessment for perceived options of both volume and type classification
• Implementation of Sampling and Analysis programs
• Site Investigations using various equipment including direct push and conventional drill rigs
• Statistical evaluation of both existing and new soil geochemistry data
• Risk-based health assessments
• Creating soil reuse and reclassification scenarios
• GIS modeling programs
• Evaluation of statistical data
Excavation, Transportation, & Disposal
Evaluation and review of current receiving facility options is a critical element for all material export jobs. Attention to detail, planning, field management are the cornerstones for a well-run material removal and disposal job.
• Summit Environmental Contractors is the industry leader for transportation and disposal of contaminated and hazardous material in California
• Transport and Dispose of Contaminated and Hazardous Materials
• Execution of an approved Excavation and Transportation Plan
• Profiling and manifest preparation
• Determination for best transportation routes
• Establishing each work zone, traffic control, dust control, and right-of-way compliance
• Provide end dumps, roll off bins and holding tanks
Oversight & Monitoring
Environmental air monitoring associated with soil remediation is a critical task for worker health and safety compliance. Regardless of the contamination type protecting human life both at the job site and in the general vicinity of the job is always of paramount importance.
• Compliance with Caltrans lead particulate monitoring related to aerial deposited lead work
• Use of handheld and portable instrumentation support insitu soil sampling
• Rule 1166 and 1146 Air Monitoring Requirements
• SCAQMD Rule 402 & 403
• Railroad safety requirements
• Air monitoring for both worker and perimeter monitoring
Geographic Information Systems (GIS)
GIS is a cutting-edge technology that utilizes low-altitude aerial photography and modeling for an extensive range of applications, with a particular focus on geological, hydrological, and environmental aspects. Summit Environmental has joined forces with Earth Forensics to deliver an array of drone and 3D modeling services catering to these specialized needs. The collaboration offers the following services:
- Landslides and Slope Stability
- Environmental Photography
- Commercial, Industrial, and Residential Site Reconnaissance
- Contamination, Fault Delineation, and Mapping
- Volumetric Calculation
- 3D Modeling of Job Site
Soil Vapor Extraction (SVE)
SVE, a highly effective method devised by environmental specialists to mitigate soil vapors. SVE proves to be a reliable solution in scenarios where volatile organic compounds (VOCs), industrial byproducts, petroleum derivatives like gasoline, or dry-cleaning chemicals infiltrate the soil.
- Conduct a site assessment to determine the extent and nature of soil contamination.
- Design an effective SVE system based on site-specific conditions, contaminant types, and regulatory requirements.
- Implement monitoring and control systems to continuously assess system performance, adjust parameters, and ensure safety and compliance.
- Install air quality monitoring equipment to measure extracted vapor concentrations and ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
- Employ appropriate treatment methods, such as activated carbon adsorption or thermal oxidation, for the extracted vapors.
- Perform routine maintenance on extraction wells, vapor treatment equipment, and other components to prevent malfunctions.
- Prepare and submit regular reports to regulatory agencies to demonstrate compliance with environmental regulations.
- Continuously evaluate and optimize the SVE system based on performance feedback and changing site conditions to enhance remediation efficiency.
- Execute a systematic closure plan when remediation goals are achieved, including proper decommissioning of wells and equipment and site restoration.
Dewatering
Summit provides temporary liquid handling solutions including dewatering services associated with infrastructure construction projects. The contaminated liquid is initially stored in Summit holding tanks and is either treated for discharge or removed offsite to a local recycling facility. Through Summit’s liquid handling Solutions division, we are dedicated to keeping infrastructure projects on time and on schedule while effortlessly handling contaminated groundwater and liquid issues.
