Sixth Street PARC Improvements Project – Los Angeles, California

Project Overview: Summit Environmental Contractors, with Los Angeles Engineering, Inc. (LA Engineering), played a pivotal role in the execution of the Sixth Street Viaduct Park, Arts, and River Connectivity (PARC) Improvements Project. This initiative, led by the City of Los Angeles Bureau of Engineering, aimed to enhance the environmental conditions and public spaces around East 6th Street, 6th Street Viaduct, Los Angeles.

Scope of Work:

  • Preparation of a Health and Safety Plan (HSP), Lead Compliance Plan (LCP), and Excavation Transportation Plan (ETP).
  • Provision of a Final Summary Report upon completion of the environmental remediation.
  • 40hrs of Hazwoper training for all field personnel.
  • X-Ray Fluorescence (XRF) soil screening and soil confirmation sampling, and laboratory analysis.
  • Characterization and profiling of the material using analytical data.
  • Recommendations for disposal options.
  • Air monitoring related to material excavation activities.
  • Transportation and disposal of more than 21k tons of contaminated material.

Environmental Concerns: The project addressed soil contamination with lead, total petroleum hydrocarbons (TPH), volatile organic compounds (VOCs), arsenic, cadmium, antimony, and soil gas impacts at various Areas of Concern (AOC) within the Sixth Street Viaduct PARC Improvements Project.
